Category: Literature. Poornachandra Tejaswi was a prominent Kannada writer. He is also known as a photographer, ornithologist, publisher, painter and environmentalist. He is the son of versatile and noted Karnataka writer, "Rashtrakavi" Kuvempu. He gave significant contributions to "Navya" period of Kannada literature and started a new category that came to be known by the name, bandaya.

Bandaya means protest literature and his short-story collection Abachoorina Post Offisu initiated bandaya in Kannada literature. He also received Kannada Sahitya Academy award the same year. Pampa Award in and Rajyotsava Award are other honours received by him. He died on April 5, aged Tejaswi was born on September 8, in Kuppali of Karnataka.

Tejaswi received Rajyotsava Award for his first short story "Linga Banda".
